Skyline Confucius Classroom

Skyline Confucius Classroom Officially Inaugurated

Posted by User Not Found on 7 June, 2016

As the Skyline High School Chinese program has grown over the years, it has become more established with students, the community, and the Confucius Institute of Washington State (CIWA). To recognize this growing partnership, the Skyline High School Chinese program was inaugurated as a Confucius Classroom.

During the inauguration ceremony Donna Hood, Skyline Principal, and Dr. Jeff Riedinger, US Director of CIWA, unveiled a brass plaque for the Confucius Classroom at Skyline High School. Donna also shared how the establishment of the Confucius Classroom boosted the school’s confidence for future prospects of Chinese language teaching at Skyline. Following the inauguration ceremony, students performed for the audience.

The Confucius Classroom program is a non-profit program through CIWA that aims to help school districts start their own Chinese language and culture program for students. The Confucius Classroom program builds off of the school’s already established Mandarin program and helps them develop it further through start-up and project funding, Chinese language teaching and learning materials, including: books, audio, visual, multimedia materials, and courseware, and sponsored trips and summer camps to China.
