Skyline and Issaquah Musicians Excel at State Solo and Ensemble Competition

Skyline and Issaquah High School music students recently had many successes at the WMEA State Solo and Ensemble Competition in Ellensburg, WA. The Skyline women’s vocal jazz group placed first in the state, the Skyline Mozart trio of Jenna Bellavia, Josie Larsen, and Natalie Stender placed first in the state, Skyline student Jenna Bellavia placed first in the state for her solo Mezzo Soprano performance, Skyline student Josie Larsen placed first in the state for her solo Soprano performance, Skyline student Courtney Crocker placed second in the state for her solo on the French Horn, Skyline student Simon Breedlove placed third in the state for his solo on the Tenor Saxophone, Issaquah student Gregory Ketron placed first in the state for his solo on the Trombone, Issaquah student Ryan Brunner placed first in the state for his solo on the Clarinet, and Issaquah student Sophie Wanf placed third in the state for her solo on the Viola.

The State Solo and Ensemble Contest is sponsored by the Washington Music Educators Association and provides the opportunity for Washington’s finest high school music students to hear from each other in a competitive setting. The competition includes small and large ensembles, as well as solo competitors to showcase their musical talents.
