Liberty High Teacher Steve Darnell Honored with 2018 Yale Educator Award

Liberty High Teacher Steve Darnell Honored with 2018 Yale Educator Award

Posted by Elizabeth Egan on 5 October, 2018
Steve Darnell has a bit of a reputation for having high expectations of students at Liberty High School. In fact, according to Darnell, he runs his AP US History Class like a 200-level college discussion class and even uses some of the same textbooks. While this is true, his students appreciate him for the effort he puts in—and expects of each of them—to achieve their best. And here's proof. Mr. Darnell was recently nominated by a former LHS student for the 2018 Yale Educator Award—and won! The Yale Educator Award recognizes teachers and counselors around the world who inspire and support their students to perform at high levels and to achieve excellence. Mr. Darnell says he was surprised to receive the award, but appreciated the acknowledgement. Congratulations Steve Darnell and thank you for all you do!
