Issaquah School District Announces Central Office Reorganization to Support Growing District

The Issaquah School District recently restructured its organizational leadership, adding key positions and shifting staff assignments, to better support both rapid growth in student enrollment as well as District programs and initiatives. Dr. Josh Almy, formerly a Liberty High School Principal and Executive Director of Middle Schools, has been tapped to manage the District’s administrative departments as the ISD’s Deputy Superintendent. Dr. Almy is part of a newly formed Superintendent’s Advisory Council comprised of the District’s Assistant Superintendents for Teaching and Learning, Emilie Hard; Human Resources, Lisa Hechtman; Elementary Education, Jodi Bongard; and Chief Financial Officer, Jake Kuper. 

“In recent years we have provided additional support staff in our school buildings in response to increased student enrollment as well as the changing needs and desires of our students and families, noted Superintendent, Ron Thiele. “Even so, the ISD has remained among the districts with the lowest administrative costs in the State—as it has for many years. While we value keeping our administrative costs low, the time has come to expand our central office operations to meet the needs of the large suburban District we have become.” 

The Superintendent’s Cabinet is comprised of the Executive Directors for Teaching and Learning, Rich Mellish; Special Education, Melissa Madsen; Finance and Operations, Martin Turney; Human Resources and Legal Affairs, Chris Burton; High Schools, Donna Hood; Middle Schools, Jason Morse; Elementary Schools, Susan Mundell; Communications, L. Michelle; and Capital Projects, Steve Crawford as well as members of the Superintendent’s Advisory Council.
