Web Day Intro

WEB Orientation for 6th Graders and New Students

Friday, August 30

At Issaquah Middle School we believe that everybody belongs. WEB, an acronym for Where Everybody Belongs, is a middle school transition program in its thirteenth year of existence at IMS. Built on the belief that students want to and can help other students succeed WEB welcomes sixth graders and new students and makes them feel comfortable by pairing them with older students. The WEB middle school transition program trains members of the 8th grade class to be WEB Leaders. As positive role models, WEB Leaders are motivators, mentors guiding new students through their discovery of what it takes to be successful in middle school.

One of the first activities new 6th graders and new students will experience at IMS is WEB Orientation. On the morning of August 30, 6th grade and new students will report to the Issaquah Middle School gym to take part in a morning retreat where they will meet their WEB groups for the first time. During orientation, WEB Leaders will help familiarize students with the school and some of our procedures without the added pressure of schedules and other students. The purpose of this orientation is to make the transition to Issaquah Middle School a positive one.  New students to IMS in 7th and 8th grade are invited to participate in a similar, though shorter, orientation that afternoon.
