Liberty High School Addition and Modernization Phase II and III

LHS-P3-New Wing
With passage of the 2012 Bond, Phase II and III construction was approved to include reconfiguration of the office and counseling areas, an additional auxiliary gym, new classroom wings and a new Library.

Liberty High School Addition and Modernization Phase II includes: reconfiguration/expansion of Commons; relocation and remodel of Admin and Counseling spaces; relocation of Kitchen and servery; relocation and expansion of L-Café and DECA Store in the new Commons; modernization of 200/300 classroom area; add auxiliary gym and modernize locker rooms; and completion of video/TV labs and production/editing studio.

  • Commissioning of the mechanical and electrical systems is on-going.
  • Tack boards, vinyl wall covering and Walltalker located in hallways are approximately 98% completed.

  • Garden wall structural frame in place.  Need to install SS mesh.
  • Rubber tile flooring for the hallways is on-going on weekends.

600 Technology Building

  • Staff items, furniture and equipment have been moved into the art rooms, wood and metal shops and the material science room.
  • Rubber tile flooring for the hallways to start around October 25th.
  • Commissioning of the mechanical and electrical systems is on-going.

Science 1000 Wing

  • Wainscot in hallways have been installed.  Ceiling grid, tiles and lights are installed.
  • Rubber flooring installed is completed.
  • The ADA cabinets have not been stalled.  Waiting for plumbing fixtures. 

Phase II August 2014

Phase III June 2014

New Classroom 5000 Wing

  • Painting is proceeding on both floors and exterior of the 100 Wing.
  • Final roofing of the main building is 90% completed.  Final roofing of the 600 wing has begun.
  • Insulated metal wall panels are approx. 90 percent completed. Corrugated metal panels are completed.
  • Classroom storefront window frames are installed.
  • Library curtain window is installed with glazing.
  • Installation of hollow metal door frames is completed.

  • Window frames are in for the administration and counseling areas.Glazing is complete in the counseling areas.
  • Roofing is 90 percent complete for the administration and counseling.
  • HVAC ducts are 90 percent complete in the admin and counseling offices.
  • Fire Sprinkler lines are 90 percent complete in the admin and counseling offices.
  • Earthwork contractor has completed grading for the commons and kitchen area.The plumber and electricians are working on under-slab utilities. Floor slab has been poured in some areas of the commons.
  • Steel erectors have completed the athletic area and they are 45 percent completed with the commons area.
  • Framing for the athletic areas is 75 percent complete
  • Roofers have started on the athletic wing roof
  • Electrical and mechanical under slab utilities is completed in the locker area.Electrical and plumbing rough in is 90 percent completed.
  • Acoustical wall panels are being erected in the theater; they are about 40 percent complete.

Phase III March 2013

  • Design is proceeding. Staff from Bassetti Architects and Capital Projects has met with school staff on the use of their individual spaces and their needs.
  • Bid opening planned for late May.

Phase II February 2013

  • Framing for the administration area is complete and sheetrock is approximately 85 percent complete.
  • Electrical rough-in for the administration and counseling areas is 90 percent complete.
  • Under slab plumbing and electrical for the kitchen and “L” Café are complete.
  • Concrete has been placed at the stairs leading to the lower athletic areas, second floor of the athletic area, stairs at the commons entrance.
  • Contractor has started forming footing for the kitchen.
  • The existing ticket booth has been demolished. Grading has started and digging for footings is underway.
  • Structural columns for the second floor to the athletic area are complete. Roof trusses are being placed.
  • Roofing on the administration and counseling areas is approximately 40 percent complete.
  • Air and moisture barrier is being applied to the administration and counseling exterior walls.

Phase III February 2013

  • The Architect has submitted construction documents to King County Building Department for permitting.
  • Design is proceeding. Staff from Bassetti Architects and Capital Projects has met with school staff on the use of the individual spaces needs.

Phase II January 2013

  • Framing for the administration area is 90 percent completed.
  • Electrical rough-in for the admin is 60 percent completed.
  • Framing for the counseling area is 80 percent completed.
  • Under slab plumbing in admin and counseling is completed.
  • Earthwork contractor has completed grading for the commons and kitchen area.  The plumber and electricians are working on under slab utilities.
  • Contractor has started forming footings for the east commons area and is moving westward.
  • Locker room masonry walls are completed
  • Electrical and mechanical under slab utilities is completed in the locker area.  Electrical and plumbing rough in is 90 percent completed.

Phase III January 2013

  • The Architect and District rep’s meet with King County officials for the pre application the week of December 17th.  Application for permit is scheduled the latter part of January.
  • Design is proceeding.  Staff from Bassetti Architects and Capital Projects have met with school staff on the use of their individual spaces and their needs.

Phase II November 2012

  • Structural steel erection has started in the administration area. Concrete slab for the administration extension is completed. Concrete masonry units being placed along the south admin wall.
  • Below slab electrical and plumbing in the administration and counseling areas is complete.
  • Below slab electrical and plumbing in the locker rooms and new gym entry hallway is proceeding.They are approximately 60 percent complete.
  • Final connection to the gas meter is complete.
  • Footings for the locker rooms and gym entry hallway are complete.
  • Formwork for the concrete walls is approximately 80 percent complete.
  • Placement of the new CMU wall for the gym entry hallway is approximately 80 percent complete.

Phase III November 2012

  • Bassetti Architects and staff from the Capital Projects office have been meeting on a regular basis with LHS staff to review current plans for both Phase III and the Stadium.

Phase II September 2012

  • The locker rooms, weight room, commons, kitchen have been completely demolished. Selective demolition in the counseling and administration areas is completed.
  • Rough grading is approximately 50 percent completed.
  • Footings in the admin area are approximately 50 percent completed.
  • The deep footings for the future weight/fitness rooms have been poured.

Phase II May 2012

  • Phase II walk through for contractors was held on May 14th.  At this time, there are five contractors interested in the project.
  • Coordination of Phase II move with staff is ongoing.
  • Preparation and coordination of summer work to ready the school for the start of Phase II continues.Start of conversion work begins the day after school is out.
  • Phase II work is scheduled to go out to bid May 7th.We plan to have the Authorization of Notice of Intent to Award on the June 13th Board Meeting Agenda.
