Expansion project at Discovery will improve safety and security and increase permanent capacity to accommodate growing school population.
The Discovery Expansion Project includes relocation of the Administration and Special Services spaces, improving office location and security at the building. An additional 6 classrooms, activity space and an expanded Commons will meet growing space needs.

TENANT IMPROVMENT (TI)

  • Administrative staff have moved into their offices.
  • ECE and OT/PT have elected to stay in their temporary rooms until the end of this school year.
  • Contractor working on punch list.

     

    CLASSROOM WING

  • Roofing is approximately 90 percent completed.
  • Electrical finish work is approximately 10 percent completed.
  • Hydronic piping in the classroom wing is approximately 98 percent completed.
  • Mechanical ducts for the HVAC units are approximately 85 percent completed.
  • A Hydronic line for the HAC units is approximately 65 percent completed.
  • Site storm detention system is completed.
  • Fine grading for the new fire lane is completed.ATB is scheduled within the next two weeks.
  • New grease interceptor has been installed and operational.
  • Sheetrock is approximately, 90 percent completed throughout the new classroom wing.
  • Painters have primed and finish paint classrooms.Hallways are approximately 60 percent completed.

  • New carpeting is approximately 45 percent completed.

  • Painting is completed in the administration area and ECE classrooms.

  • Cabinetry is completed in all spaces.

  • Ceiling grid and tiles are completed in the Administration area.

  • Ceiling grid is completed in the ECE rooms.

  • Ceramic tile in restrooms is completed.

  • Mechanical units have been installed and tied into new duct system.

  • Hydronic piping for the HVAC system is 98 percent completed.

  • TCO for the admin area as of 5/7.

  • Furniture and personal items being moved in week of 5/6.

  • Administrative staff will move into their offices week of 5/13.

  • Wall framing and roofing structure is approximately 98 percent completed.

  • Classroom wing HVAC units have been placed in the new mechanical mezzanine.

  • Great Floors has installed sheet vinyl flooring for the building restrooms over spring break.


March 2019

TENANT IMPROVMENT (TI)

  • Walls have been framed and sheet rocked.

  • Painting has started in the Administration area.

  • Ceiling grid is being installed in the Administration area.

  • Coordinating with Great Floors to install sheet vinyl flooring for the restrooms over spring break if materials arrive on time.

  • Mechanical units have been installed and tied into new duct system.

  • Hydronic piping for the HVAC system is 90 percent completed.

 

CLASSROOM WING

  • Wall framing and roofing structure is approximately 95 percent completed.

  • Electrical rough in is approximately 80 percent completed.

  • Hydronic piping in the classroom wing is approximately 25 percent completed.

  • Electrical and Mechanical have begun rough layout for the HVAC units.

  • Site storm detention system is approximately 80 percent completed.

  • New grease interceptor has been installed. 


January 2019

TENANT IMPROVMENT (TI)

  • Under slab utilities are completed.

  • Electrical rough in is 100 percent completed.

  • Mechanical ductwork is approximately 95 percent completed.

  • Mechanical HVAC units have been installed.  Plumbing and ductwork connections has begun.

  • Plumbing is completed.

  • Approximately 75 percent of the walls have been framed and sheet rocked.

  • Under slab utilities have begun for sewer and electrical.

  • Great Floors was awarded the Re-flooring Project that will occur this summer.

CLASSROOM WING

  • Pouring of footings and floor slab for the new classroom wing is completed.

  • Wall framing and roofing structure is approximately 95 percent completed.

  • Roofing has begun on the lower roof sections.

  • Below grade utilities are completed.

  • Electrical rough in is approximately 60 percent completed.

  • Electrical and Mechanical have begun rough layout for the HVAC units.

  • Site storm detention system is approximately 70 percent completed.

  • New grease interceptor has been installed.  Final connection is scheduled for mid-winter break.


October 2018

  • District has received a permit from Sammamish Plateau to start underground sewer system work.
  • District has received a building permit from the City of Sammamish.

TENANT IMPROVMENT (TI)

  • The interior walls have been demolished.
  • Under slab utilities have begun for sewer and electrical.

CLASSROOM WING

  • The old play structure has been removed.
  • Site has been graded in preparation for the new classroom wing
  • Footings have been poured.
  • Concrete workers have started forming the stem wall portion of the footings
  • Plumber has installed the main under slab waste line and branch lines.

 


September 2018

  • District has received a building permit for Discovery.
  • Kassel and Associates have started mobilization and placement of temporary fencing.
  • Interior temporary walls in the hallways and kitchen have been installed.
  • Temporary administration trailers are in place and operational.

July/August 2018

Notice to Proceed issued to Kassel Construction.

May 2018

  • Bassetti is proceeding with final contract documents.
  • Bid date is scheduled for June 19, 2018.

April 2018

  • Bassetti is proceeding with final contract documents.
  • District has advertised in local publications for SEPA. End date was December 15, 2017. No public comments were received.
  • Planned out-to-bid date is May 8th.

December 2017

  • Bassetti is proceeding with schematic design. Capital Projects has met with the school Principal to review the project.
  • Bassetti has submitted to the City of Sammamish for Commercial Site Development Permit and Building Permit.
  • Site survey is completed.
  • Geotechnical survey is completed.
  • Traffic Report is completed.
  • District is advertising in local publications for SEPA. End date is December 15, 2017.

January 2018

  • Bassetti is proceeding with schematic design.
  • District has adverted in local publications for SEPA. End date was December 15, 2017.No public comments were received.

October 2017

  • Bassetti is proceeding with schematic design. Capital Projects will schedule a meeting with the school Principal to review in the next couple of weeks.
  • Site survey is completed.
  • Geotechnical survey scheduled for early November.
  • Capital Projects has received a preliminary Traffic Report.

September 2017

  • Capital Projects and Bassetti Architects held a pre-application meeting with the City of Sammamish Building Department.
  • Surveyor will have updated survey including the new wetlands boundary the week of September 4th.

July/August 2017

  • Delineation of the existing wetland is underway.
  • Pace Engineering has begun surveying the site.
  • Bassetti is proceeding with early schematic design.
  • Bassetti and the Capital Projects Dept. held a pre-application meeting with the City of Sammamish to discuss the procedural process and schedule.
