Application and Enrollment Summer 2020


Issaquah School District Online Learning Summer 2020

Summer School is only available to students who live within the ISD boundaries and are in grades 7-12 (7th graders can only take online classes) during the 2019-20 school year. If you reside within the ISD boundary but are home-schooled, attend a private school or an online school, please contact the Registrar at your boundary high school to register for Summer School prior to filling out the Summer School registration form.

Student can take a maximum of 3 summer school classes. Either 1 in person and 2 online or 2 in person and 1 online.

Fees

In person courses are FREE OF CHARGE. Online Health is free for students in grades 9-12 but students in grades 7-8 must pay the online course fee. Online courses are free of charge for students who are credit deficient, when the course is not available in person. If the course is available in person and you prefer online, you must pay the online course fee. See chart below for what credits determine if students are credit deficient to make them eligible for free online courses.

Students on track to graduate who want to take additional online courses, credit deficient students who are choosing to take a course online rather than in person, and middle school students taking Online Health must pay $400 for each course. Scholarships are available for those meeting federal guidelines.View the scholarship application.

Important Information - MUST READ

  • District grading procedures will be followed.
  • Students may withdraw from a class within the first 2 days of the course. Students will receive a "W" on their transcript if they withdraw between day 3-5 of the Day 6 or after, students will receive an "F" on their transcript.
  • Student supervision will only occur in the times the classes are being held – students may not remain on campus outside of class time for safety purposes.
  • Transportation is not provided and families are responsible for transportation each day.
  • There are limitations for grade improvement:
    • IMPORTANT: Students may improve a maximum of 4 semester grades during high school (Grades 9-12). Per WAC 392-415-055 and WAC 392-415-070 the original grade earned must remain on the transcript however, the credit will be removed so it is not calculated in the student's GPA. The new grade, if higher, will be used in the GPA calculation.

Online Learning

Students meet in person for orientation and for proctored exams. Coursework is completed online. Credit recovery is an option ONLY for courses not available through in person summer school. Credit recovery students taking an online class must attend class at Issaquah High School 5 days per week, 2 hours per class. Online learning is for students in grades 7-12 in the 2019-20 school year.

Online Health

Students meet in person for a required orientation and for proctored exams. Coursework is completed online. Students can take this course as a new course for accrual or for credit recovery/grade improvement if they previously took health in the ISD and earned a C- or lower. This is for students in grades 8-12 in the 2019-20 school year only. Priority goes to students in the class of 2021/2022
