On Saturday, January 7, Pacific Cascade Middle School mathletes attended in the annual “Knights of Pi” contest hosted by Newport High School. This is a well-attended local event, with more than 120 teams and 500 students from grades 5 through 8. Here are the students who participated the event:
For many 6th grade students, this was their first time taking part in a math competition. Everyone tried very hard, and worked together with their team members to solve challenging problems over diverse areas such as Probability, Algebra and Geometry.
PCMS is happy to announce that their 7th Grade team won 1st place, triumphing over rivals including Evergreen, Redmond and Odle. Their 8th grade team received 4th place, which is also a great accomplishment. Even more amazingly, our 7th grade students clinched 1st, 2nd AND 3rd place for individual events. This is an astonishing accomplishment, and just goes to show how talented these students are. Their hard efforts have clearly paid off!
In addition, we want to congratulate the following winners for receiving awards:
7th Grade Team (1st Place)
8th Grade Team (4th Place)
||1st Place Individual
||2nd Place Individual
||3rd Place Individual
More competitions are coming up in February including MATHCOUNTS.
