Challenger Elementary Green Assembly Teaches Students How to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Posted by Elizabeth Egan on 6 January, 2017

Students at Challenger Elementary were treated to a special assembly upon returning from break to kick off 2017. The King County Green Team put on a special performance to help students learn how to reduce their waste by properly recycling and composting. In the play students visited Camp Greenie on the last day of camp and sat through a fun, interactive review of all the cool ways campers learned to be green.

Multiple students were able to participate in this interactive play as the actors ran though skits about not purchasing in excess, how to tell the difference between trash and compost, and the importance of using re-usable containers for their lunches. At the end of the production the whole group participated in sorting out all the trash from camp into the appropriate bins.

Challenger will be putting the knowledge they gained at Camp Greenie to good use starting next Wednesday. Continuing their efforts as a level 3 Green School students will participate in Waste Free Wednesdays through the end of the year.
