Eleven Issaquah Schools Receive 2015 Washington Achievement Awards

Congratulations to Apollo Elementary, Briarwood Elementary, Cascade Ridge Elementary, Challenger Elementary, Cougar Ridge Elementary, Discovery Elementary, Endeavour Elementary, Newcastle Elementary, Issaquah Valley Elementary, Issaquah Middle and Maywood Middle schools for earning the state's highest honor of a Washington Achievement Award.

The Washington Achievement Awards are awarded by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and are awarded based on the State Board of Education Revised Achievement Index. Awards are calculated using statewide assessment data from the previous three years. The index measures school performance with an emphasis on improvement and recognition. Schools were recognized in seven categories: Overall Growth, High Progress, English Language Arts Growth, Math Growth, Extended Graduation Rate, English Language Acquisition, and Achievement Gap. Issaquah schools were awarded for their achievement in the following categories:

Apollo Elementary School was honored for High Progress and English Language Arts Growth
Briarwood Elementary School was honored for High Progress
Cascade Ridge Elementary School was honored for Overall Excellence
Challenger Elementary School was honored for English Language Acquisition
Cougar Ridge Elementary School was honored for Overall Excellence, English Language Arts Growth, and Math Growth  
Discovery Elementary School was honored for Overall Excellence, English Language Arts Growth and Math Growth
Endeavour Elementary School was honored for Overall Excellence and English Language Arts Growth
Newcastle Elementary School was honored for Overall Excellence and English Language Arts Growth
Issaquah Valley Elementary School was honored for High Progress
